The statistics that are known about the process of registration for domains .CO are giving a very potent signal about the importance this extension is acquiring on the Internet.
The numbers are revealing and seems that no important company wants to be kept out of the .CO domain circle.
Some important data that are guaranteeing .CO domains:
- Of the 500 most important global brands more than half has subscribe to request their domain .CO.
- Over 70% of the best brands of the world (says BrandFinance) will have requested their .CO domain before it opens for general public.
- 1.500 requests have been decline during the Sunrise period because of no brand rights and this indicates that there are cybersquatters.
- Under Sunrise period more than 11.000 requests were received and more than 15.000 during the LandRush period.
The World Trademark Review has notice that many famous brands are thinking about promoting their new services and products using the .CO extension, this showing that this new extension can even take market share from .COM.
On July 16th the Landrush stage ends and on July 20th it opens for general public.
