During the 2010 Colombian will be triply proud:

First of all, one of the most beautiful cities of Colombia was chosen to have the ICANN meeting between December 5th and 10th: Cartagena of Indies.

This fortified city, with its pirate stories, golden beaches, its colonial architecture and its squares, its cultural festivals, its great variety of food and its pleasant weather around 28ºC is the ideal place to celebrate the last ICANN of the year.

In second place July 20th the domain .CO is launch for general registration.

The extension .CO will open new spaces for those that could not register their .COM domains enriching worldwide the offering of domain in the cyberspace.

Last but not least, the same day the domain .CO is launch to General Public, Colombia celebrates 200 years of the Declaration of Independence.

The story of the first Independence shout is very interesting and starts with the borrowing of a vase which was denied.

In the year 1810 a well known group of Creoles of Santa Fe (today Bogotá) looks for a way to disturb the public order and therefore seize the Spanish power.

Mr. Antonio Morales proposed to borrow a vase from one of the most known Spanish traders, Mr. Jose Gonzalez-Llorente, to be used in the party in honor of Captain of the Real Army. Mr. Luis Rubio offered himself.

The refusal of the Spanish trader to lend the vase would make an argument and if he decided to lend the vase or refused politely, another Creole would enter the store and greet the trader which would start critics and an argument from Mr. Luis Rubio’s side.

On July 20th 1810, day of market in the square, Mr. Luis Rubio asks for the vase and Mr. Jose Gonzalez-Llorente politely refused that with so many lending the vase had deteriorated and lost its worthiness. Then, another Creole enters and greets the Spanish trader provoking huge critics from Mr. Luis Rubio, and an argument starts. Quickly all the conspiracy start screaming in the Square: They are insulting the Americans! We want meeting! We want Counsel! Down the bad government!

This comes to be the first Independence Shout from the until that moment incipient Colombian Nation.
