Chile advances on the Migration of IPV6
Next Thursday August 12th, NIC Labs, Laboratory dependent of NIC Chile, will have a seminar presenting the project of Ipv6 for Chile at the Universidad de Chile.
This initiative private-public unites relevant local technological actors and will conduct the upgrade of the Chilean Internet network and their interconnection using the new Ipv6 protocols, technology designed to increase IP addresses availability in the global network, and it will entail the biggest reconfiguration of the Internet since its beginnings.
The subject is not minor since it had already been informed that only 10% of the addresses had not been assigned under the old protocol IPv4 (www.nro.net).
The implementation of IPv6 is a key factor for the development of the Internet since it will allow the network to support billions of people and machines to connect to it in the future.

.CO domains already started for General Public and on the first hour more than 100.000 domains, 8.200 in the first minute and 100.000 on the first 22 minutes, all without technical problems and working perfectly.
At this time there are more than 279.000 domains .CO registered.
As it was commented before, the domain .CO has brought fresh air to the over populated .COM world and many well known companies are using the .CO extension like Twitter using t.co or the political blog in the United States “Politico” using politi.co.
The three most highlighted characteristics of domains .CO is that, they are Global, Trustworthy and of easy to remember.
One of the most notorious facts is the effort that .CO Internet S.A.S. has put in transforming domains .CO in one of the most trustworthy extension there is.
The technological capacity was demonstrated considerably in responding to thousand requests in less than half an hour during the opening.
The domain .CO offers optimum protection and security measures for users and their intellectual property forcing them to use their information and with that assure a transparent WHOIS which moves away the cybersquatters and this is also combined with other legal protection measures.

STATISTICS AND IMPORTANTE OF DOMAINS .CO
The statistics that are known about the process of registration for domains .CO are giving a very potent signal about the importance this extension is acquiring on the Internet.

Some important data that are guaranteeing .CO domains:

- Over 70% of the best brands of the world (says BrandFinance) will have requested their .CO domain before it opens for general public.

ICANN ON CARTAGENA DE INDIAS - DECEMBER 2010
During the 2010 Colombian will be triply proud:
First of all, one of the most beautiful cities of Colombia was chosen to have the ICANN meeting between December 5th and 10th: Cartagena of Indies.
Cartagena of Indies was founded in 1533 by Pedro Heredia in one of the most beautiful bays of America. Because of its commercial importance was attacked by the French pirate Roberto Baal and during the next years, Cartagena new many attacks by Juan Hawkins, Juan and Martin Côté brothers and Francis Drake.
The kings of Spain sent to build Castles, fortresses and walls to border the city, at the end Cartagena had 11 kilometers that protected the city, the castle of San Felipe de Barajas, constructed to confront ground attacks, fortress like San Sebastian de Pastelillo, the battery of San Angel in Bomb Earth, the fortress of San Fernando and the battery of San Jose in Bocachica.
Other outstanding religious architecture building are the Cathedral, the Church and the San Pedro Claver Cloister, the Santo Domingo Church and the Popa Monastery constructed in the beginning of XVII century at the top of a hill, the Palace of Inquisition, the Square of the Tombs and the Gold Museum.
This fortified city, with its pirate stories, golden beaches, its colonial architecture and its squares, its cultural festivals, its great variety of food and its pleasant weather around 28ºC is the ideal place to celebrate the last ICANN of the year.
In second place July 20th the domain .CO is launch for general registration.
The extension .CO will open new spaces for those that could not register their .COM domains enriching worldwide the offering of domain in the cyberspace.
Last but not least, the same day the domain .CO is launch to General Public, Colombia celebrates 200 years of the Declaration of Independence.
The story of the first Independence shout is very interesting and starts with the borrowing of a vase which was denied.
In the year 1810 a well known group of Creoles of Santa Fe (today Bogotá) looks for a way to disturb the public order and therefore seize the Spanish power.
Mr. Antonio Morales proposed to borrow a vase from one of the most known Spanish traders, Mr. Jose Gonzalez-Llorente, to be used in the party in honor of Captain of the Real Army. Mr. Luis Rubio offered himself.
The refusal of the Spanish trader to lend the vase would make an argument and if he decided to lend the vase or refused politely, another Creole would enter the store and greet the trader which would start critics and an argument from Mr. Luis Rubio’s side.
On July 20th 1810, day of market in the square, Mr. Luis Rubio asks for the vase and Mr. Jose Gonzalez-Llorente politely refused that with so many lending the vase had deteriorated and lost its worthiness. Then, another Creole enters and greets the Spanish trader provoking huge critics from Mr. Luis Rubio, and an argument starts. Quickly all the conspiracy start screaming in the Square: They are insulting the Americans! We want meeting! We want Counsel! Down the bad government!
This comes to be the first Independence Shout from the until that moment incipient Colombian Nation.
